Hardcover, sapphire blue paper wrapped cover, the regimental insignia on the cover in red ink, the text on the front cover and the spine in silver-coloured ink, entitled "Medal Rolls: 23rd Foot - Royal Welch Fusiliers, Napoleonic Period", with Biographical Notes on Officers, N.C.O.s and Men, compiled by Norman Holme & Major E.L. Kirby, M.C., T.D., D.L., copyrighted by the compilers in 1978, published by Regimental Museum, The Royal Fusiliers, Caernarfon Castle and Spink & Son, Limited of London, printed by Gee and Son (Denbigh) Limited. The book begins with a Table of Contents, followed by a Bibliography and sources of Reference, a Foreword by Major-General P.R. Leuchars, C.B.E., Colonel, The Royal Welsh Fusiliers, a Preamble and Notes. It is divided into nine sections: 1 - Rolls of Officers, N.C.O.'s and Men - By Companies - who were Present at Waterloo. The Rolls show Battle Casualties; 2 - Summary of Strength and Casualties at Waterloo; 3 - Roll of Officers Awarded the Waterloo Medal; 4 - Roll of Officers Awarded the Army Gold Medal and Gold Cross; 5 - Roll of Officers Awarded the Military General Service Medal 1793-1814; 6 - Roll of Officers Listed in No. 7 (Biographical Notes) with a Summary of Medals Awarded; 7 - Biographical Notes on Officers; 8 - Biographical Notes on N.C.O.'s and Men - Alphabetical by Ranks - who were Present at Waterloo; 9 - Roll of N.C.O.'s and Men - Alphabetical by Ranks - who were Awarded the Military General Service Medal and Biographical Notes. The book contains 206 pages of text, printed in black ink, on a white paper stock, with four pages of black and white plates (two each between pages 48-49, 64-65), on a coated white paper stock, the previous owner's stamp placed on the inside front cover endpaper, measuring 152 mm (w) x 215 mm (h) x 20 mm (d). It exhibits foxing on the top of the pages, however, the pages within remain unaffected. Near extremely fine.
