A Second War British Air Raid Precaution Wardens grouping, consisting of:
1. An Air Raid Precautions Wardens MK II helmet, constructed of non-magnetic black-painted metal with a white-painted large “W” (Warden) on the front, unmarked, with interior padding after the MK I model with oval padding at the crown, marked “J.C.S. & W Ltd” (J. Compton Sons & Webb Ltd. of London, England) and “1939”, the chin strap is the MK I model, with rectangular MK III anchors introduced in 1939, the interior measuring approximately 19 cm (w) x 17 cm (l) with the exterior measuring 285 mm (w) x 305 mm (l) at the base, worn but well preserved, in near very fine condition.
2. A Second War ARP Whistle on lanyard for Air Raid Precaution Services Wardens by J.Hudson & Co. of Barr Street, Hockley, Birmingham, England, constructed of nickel plated brass, consisting of a whistle with a rounded mouth-piece, and two cut-outs which emits a piercing double tone screech, on a fixed loop for suspension from its period-original long knotted lanyard with a 270 mm long knotted side, and a 320 mm long “loose” side, in extremely fine condition.
3. A set of boxed ARP (Air Raid Precaution) insignia, with two silver ARP pins contained in a red cardstock box for ladies, consisting of a King’s crown on a shield marked “ARP” with vertical pinbacks, silver hallmarked “JC”, along with a leftward facing tiger, a tiger’s head, and “C”, measuring 26.2 mm (w) x 38.5 mm (l), weighing 9.07 grams each, in near mint condition.
4. A set of boxed ARP (Air Raid Precaution) insignia, with two silver ARP pins contained in a blue cardstock box for men, consisting of a King’s crown on a shield marked “ARP” with half-moon lapel backers, silver hallmarked “JC”, along with a leftward facing tiger, a tiger’s head, and “C”, measuring 26.1 mm (l) x 38.3 mm (l), weighing 9.30 grams each, in near mint condition.
5. A lot of CD (Civil Defence) Warden insignia, with two “Warden” patches, consisting of bright yellow machine embroidery on a dark blue wool backer, measuring 98 mm (w) x 25 mm (l), uniform removed. A CD warden patch, consisting of bright yellow machine embroidery with “CD” and a King’s crown, measuring 70 mm in diameter, uniform removed.
