United Kingdom. A Queen’s South Africa Medal to Pte.Freeman, 13th Hussars

Instituted 1899. In silver, rim officially engraved 5383 PTE G. FREEMAN. 13TH HUSSARS. with TRANSVAAL clasp, reverse with stiff red felt, bright, minor wear, extremely fine. 

Footnote: The 13th Hussars served throughout the Second Boer War (1899–1902) as part of the British cavalry force in South Africa. The regiment took part in the relief of Kimberley, the advance on Bloemfontein and Pretoria, and the subsequent guerrilla phase of the war, conducting reconnaissance, screening movements, and pursuing Boer commandos across the Transvaal and Orange Free State. Its service earned the regiment numerous battle honours, including Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Belfast, and South Africa 1901–02.
