Instituted in 1952. In silver and silver gilt, oval medallion featuring the Royal cypher of Queen Elizabeth II, circumscribed by a wreath, reverse marked 1953, evidence of wear to the ribbon, topped with a brooch bar inscribed ‘Territorial’, 55.7 mm (h) x 37.2 mm (w), extremely fine condition. In a hard-shelled case, white satin lined on the inside lid, purple velvet medal bed, marked Royal Mint, extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The Emergency Reserve Decoration was instituted on 17 November 1952 and given for service up to 1967. It was awarded to officers of the Army Supplementary Reserve or Army Emergency Reserve of Officers for 12 years continuous or aggregate service, with war service counting as double and previous service in the ranks counting as half. The Emergency Reserve Decoration was not awarded for service after 1967, on the creation of the Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve.
