Description

Military General Service Medal, impressed “D. Grant, Serjt 42nd foot”, six clasps; Toulouse, Orthes, Nive, Nivelle, Pyrenees, Salamanca, and a silver “42” regimental attachment, accompanied by a fine Regimental medal with a silver Peninsula Suspension and a sphynx clasp, engraved to “D. Grant” on rim, measuring at 32 mm in diameter, fine.

Footnote: Enlisted on May 9, 1809 and received his promotion to Sergeant on January 22 1835. Sergeant Duncan Grant is listed on both the Waterloo Roll and the Military General Service Roll. He received a severe gunshot wound to the thigh which led to his discharge. He was present at Waterloo in Capt Thomas F Wade’s bay, where the 42nd Foot sustained a 64% casualty rate. He died on November 28th, 1850.
