Lance-Havildar Abdul Ghani, 10th Baluch Regiment, Indian Army
George VI (15075 L HAV ABDUL GHANI 10 BALUCH R.); 1939-1945 Star; Burma Star; and War Medal 1939-1945. Un-mounted, naming on the MM is crudely engraved in large capitals. Light contact, along with edge nicks on the MM, original ribbons, better than very fine. Accompanied by a copy of his citation for the Military Medal.
Footnote: Lance-Havildar Abdul Ghani, 10th Baluch Regiment, Indian Army was in action at Cock 429387, a hill in the Mayu Range on the forward (northern) slope in Burma, on April 17, 1944, which would see him recommended by Lieutenant-Colonel W.W. Brindley, M.B.E., 53rd Indian Infantry, 25th Indian Division, 15 Corps, for the Military Medal for his conspicuous gallantry in action, his citation stating: "On 17th Apr. 44, No.15075 L./Hav. Abdul Ghani was in command of a Patrol that went out to recce an enemy position on Cock. He conducted his patrol with skill in his very difficult hilly country covered with jungle, he succeeded in locating 2 enemy M.G. posts. While doing so his patrol came under heavy M.G. fire from the flank and 2 men were wounded. No.15075 L./Hav. Abdul Ghani reorganised his patrol while still under fire and himself covered the evacuation of the wounded by giving covering fire with his T.S.M.G. Although he at all times was under heavy fire he only left his covering position when he saw that the wounded had been got down the hill. By his coolness and disregard of heavy enemy fire No.15075 L./Hav. Abdul Ghani undoubtedly saved his patrol from still further casualties. His leadership was an inspiration to his patrol." 15075 Lance-Havildar Abdul Ghani, 10th Baluch Regiment, Indian Army was awarded the Military Medal, the announcement appearing in the Supplement to the London Gazette 36627 of Tuesday, July 25, 1944, on Thursday, July 27, 1944, page 3504.
