A lot of four medals and awards, consisting of:
1. An India Service Medal. Instituted June 6th, 1946. A circular cupro-nickel medal, the obverse depicting the crowned effigy of King George VI facing left and circumscribed by his name and title, the reverse depicting a relief map of India and the words “India” with “1939-45” below, suspended from a single-toe horizontal medal bar from a period original ribbon, measuring 36.1 mm in diameter.
2. A Special Constabulary Long Service Medal. Instituted August 30th, 1919. A circular bronze medal, the obverse bearing the effigy of King George V facing left and circumscribed by his name and title, the reverse with a partial laurel wreath and inscribed with “For Faithful Service in the Special Constabulary” in capitalized lettering, suspended from a single-toe horizontal medal bar from a period original ribbon, the edge inscribed “John W. Thomson”, measuring 36.2 mm in diameter.
3. A Queen Elizabeth II Coronation Medal. Instituted June 2nd, 1953. A circular silver medal, the obverse depicting Queen Elizabeth II facing right wearing a high-collared ermine cloak, a Tudor Crown, along with the collar of the Garter and Badge of the Bath, the reverse inscribed with the Royal Cypher (EIIR), circumscribed “Queen Elizabeth II Crowned 2nd June 1953”, on a horizontally pierced ball and swivel ring for suspension from its period original ribbon featuring a horizontal pinback assembly, measuring 32.0 mm in diameter.
4. A New Zealand War Service Medal. Instituted in late 1946. A circular cupro-nickel medal, the obverse with the uncrowned effigy of King George VI facing left and circumscribed by his name and title, the reverse inscribed “For Service to New Zealand 1939-1945” above a fern leaf, suspended from dual fern leaves in a “V” formation with a bar between them for suspension from its period original ribbon, measuring 36.0 mm in diameter.
A fine grouping of four medals and awards, in overall near very fine condition.
