United Kingdom. A Distinguished Service Order, by Garrard, in Case

 Instituted September 6, 1886. 1911-1938 Issue. In silver gilt, a white enamelled cross, the obverse presenting a silver gilt crown on a red enamelled field surrounded by a green enamel laurel wreath, the reverse medallion features a crowned GVR cypher on a red enamelled field surrounded by a green enamel laurel wreath, worn on a silver suspension bar, measures 41.1mm (w) x 45.4mm (h), weighs 34.19 grams, worn on original ribbon bearing areas of discolouration near the top, small strands of glue residue across the 9 o’clock arm, a lovely decoration in extremely fine condition.

Contained in the original case of issue, black pebbled exterior, marked GARRARD & CO LTD, dark blue velvet medal bed, measures  68 mm (w) x 127 mm (h) x 25 mm (d), functional clasp, very fine.
