In silver, impressed "IN MEMORY OF 2ND. LIEUT. M.G. FRASER. DIED. 1.7.16" on the edge, obverse illustrating Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) insignia and inscribed "CAMERONIANS" below, reverse inscribed "FOR SERVICE TO THE CAMERONIANS SCOTTISH RIFLES 1689-1968", measuring 36.7 mm in diameter, edge nicks, very light contact overall, original ribbon, near extremely fine. Accompanied by research papers from the Commonwealth War Graves website.
Footnote: Second Lieutenant Malcolm Goulding Fraser, 2nd Battalion, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) was the son of the late Harry Fraser and Mary Lee Fraser of 82 Strathearn Road, Edinburgh when he was declared Missing or Killed in Action on July 1, 1916 at the age of 20. He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Pier and Face 4D, the war memorial dedicated to the Missing of the Somme, entailing 72,337 missing British and South African servicemen who died in the Battles of the Somme of the First World War between 1915 and 1918.
