Description

Instituted in 1920. (1708 PTE. G. HURLY. WELSH R.) In bronze, obverse shows King George V facing left surrounded by inscription, reverse shows a wreath with centre inscription 'For Voluntary Service Overseas 1914-19’, and 'TERRITORIAL WAR MEDAL', inclusive of bar suspension 50.4 mm (h) x 36.3 mm (w), extremely fine condition.

Footnote: The medal was established in April 1920 for award to members of the Territorial Force and Territorial Force Nursing Service who volunteered for service overseas on or before 30 September 1914, and served overseas. It is the rarest of the five British Great War medals.
