Description

3 Clasps - SEBASTOPOL, INKERMANN, ALMA. In silver, measuring 36 mm in diameter, exhibiting slight tarnishing, original frayed ribbon with a bow-tie at its top end, encased within an ornate frame under glass, the frame lined in maroon felt and bearing a plaque engraved "J.A. Taut. 1832-1899." that is secured in place via two pins, with some silvering wear evident on the wooden frame, near extremely fine.

Footnote: The Crimea Medal was a campaign medal approved on December 15, 1854, for issue to officers and men of British units (land and naval) which fought in the Crimean War of 1854-1856 against Russia. The medal was awarded with the British version of the Turkish Crimea Medal, but when a consignment of these was lost at sea, some troops received the Sardinian version.
