Description
1. A British War Medal. Instituted July 26th, 1919. A circular silver medal, suspended from a single-toe claw attached to the center of the award with a slotted bar, suspended from its period-original ribbon (with evidence of previous collector’s mounting), the obverse depicting a leftward facing effigy of King George V circumscribed by his name and title in Latin, the reverse depicting St. George mounted on a horse armed with a short sword trampling on the Prussian eagle, and with skull and crossbones, with a sun in the background, and dated “1914” and “1918”, impressed “C. 2-186 J. Henderson Sig. R.N.V.R” along the rim, measuring 36.2 mm in diameter, weighing 33.18 grams.
2. A Victory Medal. Instituted September 1st, 1919. A circular bronze medal, the obverse depicting a winged, full-length, full-front, figure of “Victory” with her left arm extended holding a palm branch in her right hand, the reverse is inscribed “The Great War for Civilisation 1914-1919” in capital letters within a laurel wreath, impressed “C. 2-186 J. Henderson Sig. R.N.V.R” along the rim, measuring 36.2 mm in diameter, weighing 29.00 grams.
3. A 1914-15 Star. Instituted in December 1918. Consisting of a six-pointed star constructed of a copper-zinc alloy, with a fixed horizontally-pierced loop and fixed ring for suspension from its period-original ribbon (with evidence of previous collector’s mounting), the obverse depicting crossed swords and a ribbon with “1914-15” within an oak wreath, the reverse plain, impressed “C. 2-186 J. Henderson Sig. R.N.V.R”, measuring 44.0 mm (w) x 62.0 mm (l), weighing 25.97 grams inclusive of its ribbon.
