Fabricated from a red wool with fold down flaps in black wool on either side, the flaps held up with black metal hooks fed through black finished eyelets, with two rising peaks forming a valley between the two panels, the panels stitched together via two strands of light brown string, the front with two 12 mm wide buttons, the uppers of which are in bronze, the brass cores maker marked "BUTTONS Ltd B'HAM" on the reverse, each of the buttons illustrating the Royal coat-of-arms and holding the two ends of the flaps together, a 23.7 mm x 37.3 mm bronze Royal Artillery cap badge on the left side, held in place via intact prongs and pin on the inside of the cap. The inside is lined in a black cotton-rayon blend, with an 45 mm wide soft brown sweatband, measuring 102 mm x 270 mm, exhibiting scattered mothing on the exterior, soiling present on both the interior and exterior from active use.
