Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Officer's Badge (OBE); Egypt Medal 1882-1889, un-dated reverse, 1 Clasp - GEMAIZAH 1888 (COND: W. ENGLISH. A.S. CORPS.); Queen's South Africa Medal 1899-1902, 1 Clasp - CAPE COLONY (LIEUT: & Q.M. W. ENGLISH. A.S.C.); King's South Africa Medal 1901-1902, 2 Clasps - SOUTH AFRICA 1901, SOUTH AFRICA 1902 (Lt. & Qr. Mr. W. ENGLISH. A.S.C.); and Khedive's Star. Naming on the Egypt Medal, the Queen's South Africa Medal and the King's South Africa Medal is engraved in italic capitals, the OBE and the Khedive's Star are un-named as issued. Court-mounted, the OBE with a scuff mark on the arm at 12 o'clock on the obverse, a gouge evident on the reverse of the Egypt Medal, all three silver medals exhibiting contact marks, better than very fine.
Footnote: William English joined the army in 1871 and served in the ranks for 11 years and 147 days; promoted to Conductor on 22nd July 1882. Commissioned as a Quartermaster on 12th December 1894 and promoted to Hon.Captain on 12 Dec 1904. Retired on 8th Feb 1906. Recalled to service on 5th August 1914 and promoted to Hon. Major on 1st July 1917.
