A small court mounted medal bar, measuring 63 mm (w), reverse with red felt backing, comprising:
A Queen’s South Africa Medal. Early Issue, in silver, full size, rim officially engraved 25440 Sapr W. KELLETT. R.E., with CAPE COLONY and ORANGE FREE STATE clasps, reverse bears the ghost dates 1899 1900 denoting the first issue of the medal, dark patina around the outside of the medal, wear to silver on Queen Victoria’s face, remains very fine.
A King’s South Africa Medal. In silver, full size, rim impressed 25440 SAPR. W. KELLETT. R.E., with SOUTH AFRICA 1901 and SOUTH AFRICA 1902 clasps, bright, small contact marks, extremely fine.
Footnote: W. Kellett served with the 29th Company, Royal Engineers during the Second Boer War in South Africa. He is denoted on the medal roll for the Queen South Africa Medal and King’s South Africa medal with the clasps shown above. He was discharged as medically unfit for further service on August 15, 1902.
