Description

(Orden Azad Hind, Bruststern I. Klasse). Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an eight-pointed starburst, bearing a central gilded medallion overlaid by a leftward-facing Bengal tiger, circumscribed by an inscription of “AZAD HIND”, with the voids filled by clusters of laurel leaves, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked “RUDOLF SOUVAL, WIEN VII”, measuring 60.24 mm (w) x 60.35 mm (h), weighing 32.4 grams, demonstrating moderate loss of gilt finish through the medallion and some scratching and wear to the base metal of the star, in near extremely fine condition.
