Germany, Wehrmacht. A Rare General Assault Badge, Special Grade for 50 Engagements, by Josef Feix & Söhne

(Allgemeines Sturmabzeichen mit Einsatzzahl 50). Constructed of silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a plaque bearing a raised number “50” on a blackened background, overlaid by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, situated above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, the reverse with four visible rivets securing the eagle in position, with a crimped barrel hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch emanating from a crimped base, maker marked with the logo of Josef Feix & Söhne, Gablonz, measuring 48.16 mm (w) x 58.04 mm (h), weighing 32.6 grams, a rare example retaining virtually all of its original finish and impossible to upgrade, in extremely fine condition.
