Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Special Grade 25, Transitional Semi-Hollow Variant by C.E. Juncker

(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Silber mit Einsatzzahl 25). Constructed of silvered and toned zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by a raised number “25” situated within a magnetic metal box, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, surrounding a central Panzer IV rolling over logs, with its left tread extending beyond the edge of the wreath, the reverse presenting in a semi-hollow configuration, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting rounded and flattened catch emanating from a circular plate, with three visible rivets securing the eagle and numeral in position, the former two penetrating through to the obverse, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of a transitional example produced by C.E. Juncker, Berlin, measuring 46.90 mm (w) x 61.71 mm (h), weighing 31.2 grams, demonstrating minor loss of finish throughout with additional evidence of periodic repair to the catch, in better than very fine condition.
