Germany, Wehrmacht. A Panzer Assault Badge, Bronze Grade, by Karl Wurster

(Panzerkampfabzeichen in Bronze). Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, surrounding a central Panzer IV rolling over grassy terrain, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked with the logo of Karl Wurster, Markneukirchen and demonstrating the characteristics of the firm’s third die, measuring 41.47 mm (w) x 60.50 mm (h), weighing 33.3 grams, demonstrating total loss of bronze finish throughout the base metal, in very fine condition.
