Germany, Wehrmacht. A Pair of Decorations

(Auszeichnungen). A pair of decorations, including:

1. A War Merit Cross II Class, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, the suspension loop maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “1” for Deschler & Sohn, Munich, measuring 48.52 mm (w) x 49.35 mm (h), weighing 19.3 grams, accompanied by its original package of issue, constructed of light brown paper stock, the exterior bearing an inscription of “KRIEGSVERDIENSTKREUZ 2. KLASSE OHNE SCHWERTER” and a maker’s mark of “DESCHLER & SOHN, MÜNCHEN”, measuring 55 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), in near mint condition.

2. A Black Grade Wound Badge, constructed of blackened magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, maker marked with Präsidialkanzlei code “107” for Carl Wild, Hamburg, measuring 36.89 mm (w) x 44.33 mm (h), weighing 8.7 grams, accompanied by a mis-matched period presentation case, of two-piece card stock construction, the exterior with a faux dark blue leather exterior liner, the interior of the lid stamped with an LDO insignia, measuring 40 mm (w) x 55 mm (l) x 15 mm (h), demonstrating minor oxidation to the badge, in near extremely fine condition.
