Germany, Wehrmacht. A P38 Pistol Holster, by C. Pose

(Wehrmacht Pistolentasche für die P38). Constructed of blackened leather, consisting of a multi-panel fitted shell, with one side featuring a compartment for a spare clip, the reverse fitted with two leather loops for belt suspension, with a fold-over lid perforated with an eyelet and reinforced with a metal grommet, meeting a metal loop emanating from the front which formerly closed with a leather strap which has been lost to time, opening to reveal a hollow interior, the reverse of the exterior stamped with a mark of “P38”, a Waffenamt code of “CNY41” indicating manufacture by C. Pose, Berlin, above a partially-legible Wehrmacht acceptance stamp, also bearing an illegible hand-etched owner’s name, measuring 19 cm (w) x 24 cm (h), demonstrating material fatigue and loss of black finish throughout, a field-worn example in very fine condition.
