Germany, Wehrmacht. A Gold Grade Wound Badge, with Case, by the Vienna Mint

(Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold mit Etui). Constructed of gilded tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a clip hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by the Vienna Mint, measuring 36.67 mm (w) x 44.20 mm (h), weighing 34.4 grams, accompanied by its original case of issue, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a slotted beige felt medal bed, the lid bearing a partially-legible stamp, otherwise unmarked, measuring 65 mm (w) x 68 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), minor loss of finish is visible to the badge and the case demonstrates moderate material fatigue throughout, the latter including the loss of functionality to the closure, in overall very fine condition.
