Germany, Third Reich. A Tyrolean Marksmanship 6-Year Gau Champion Shooter Badge

(Standschützenverband Tirol-Vorarlberg Meisterschützenabzeichen mit Inschrift 6 Jahre Gaumeisterschütze). Constructed of silvered and gilded zink with multi-coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, surrounding a central red enameled Tyrol-style German national eagle clutching a bullseye target defaced by a swastika, in turn situated above a banner bearing an inscription of “6. JAHRE GAUMEISTERSCHÜTZE” (“6 YEAR GAU CHAMPION SHOOTER”), the reverse with a clip hinge and horizontal pinback meeting a locking catch, stamped with an issue number of “202”, otherwise unmarked, measuring 64 mm in diameter, period repairs are visible to the eagle’s enamel, while the eagle itself has been re-applied to the badge with glue (with the lower half once again detached), in addition to some loss of finish to the wreath, a repaired example in very fine condition.
