Germany, Third Reich. A Pair Of Third Reich Period Identity Documents

This is a pair of very well-preserved Third Reich period identity documents, including:

An Ahnenpaß (Ancestor Passport) belonging to Katharine Hanshik, born 10 November 1901 in Pruchna, Austrian Silesia (now Poland) to parents Johann Hanshik and Anna Staniczk. The book features ancestral entries dating back to 1827, with each individual featuring a purple ink stamp of the Roman Catholic diocese of St. Anna-Pfarramt (Pruchna). The booklet measures 136 mm (w) x 223 mm (h). Age-appropriate fatigue is evident but it is in an otherwise very fine condition.

A Reisepass (Passport) belonging to Manfred Israel Saalheimer, born 30 August 1906 in Würzburg. A resident of Dresden at the time of issue (16 January 1939), the interior features a black and white photograph of the bearer, along with a red letter “J” stamp, indicating Saalheimer was Jewish. Stamps on subsequent pages indicate that Saalheimer was granted a visa to depart for the United Kingdom on 11 February 1939 and arrived in Southampton on 24 March 1939. Saalheimer died in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on 20 June 1967. The booklet measures 111 mm (w) x 165 mm (h). Minor, age-appropriate fatigue is evident, but it is in an otherwise near extremely fine condition.
