Germany, Third Reich. A Mixed Lot of Badges

(Abzeichen). A mixed lot of badges, including:

1. A Sturmabteilung (SA) Sports Badge, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, surrounding a central mobile swastika overlaid by a sword, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, stamped with an award number of “496295”, maker marked “E. SCHNEIDER, LÜDENSCHEID”, measuring  45.23 mm (w) x 57.78 mm (h), weighing 18.4 grams, in near extremely fine condition.

2. An RLA Sports Badge, Silver Grade cloth version, constructed of black rayon with silver-grey machine embroidery, affixed to a rigid core with a horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 45 mm in diameter, demonstrating minor material fatigue, in near extremely fine condition.

3. A Deutsches Frauenwerk membership badge, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, vertical pinback, the reverse marked with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M1/155” for Schwertner & Cie, Eggenberg bei Graz, measuring 30 mm (w) x 32 mm (h), demonstrating moderate loss of flecking and loss of finish to the enamels and base metal, respectively, in very fine condition.

4. A German Red Cross (DRK) Senior Assistant’s badge, constructed of silvered bronze with multi-coloured enamels, horizontal pinback, unmarked, measuring 35 mm in diameter, demonstrating moderate flecking and loss of finish to the enamels and base metal, respectively, in very fine condition.
