A grouping of three Third Reich German awards with award documents to Walter Weisener, consisting of:
1. A War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords. (Kriegsverdienstkreuz II. Klasse mit Schwertern). Instituted October 18th, 1939 (1939-1945 issue). Constructed of bronze, with a fixed loop and ring for suspension, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a central wreathed date of “1939”, the ring marked “127” for manufacture by Moritz Hauch A.G. of Pforzheim, accompanied by a full length period original ribbon, measuring 47.1 mm (w) x 47.0 mm (l), weighing 20.14 grams, in very fine condition.
An award document for a War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords (Verleihungsurkunde für ein Kriegsverdienstkreuz II. Klasse mit Schwertern) to Obergefreiter Walter Weisener of 7th Jäger Regiment 76. It was awarded in the field in Muschkowitschi on September 5th 1941 and bearing the partially visible Wehrmacht stamp, measuring 147 mm (w) x 210 mm (l), the document has been previously folded in half with creasing along the edges of the page, in overall very fine condition.
2. An Eastern Front Medal (Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/1942 - “Ostmedaille”). Instituted May 26th 1942. (1942-1944 Issue). Constructed of silvered and patinated zinc, on a fixed loop and ring for suspension, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse bearing an inscription of “Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42” (Winter Battle in the East 1941/42) above a crossed sword and lauren branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and a stick grenade, accompanied by a full length period original ribbon, marked “13” on the ring for manufacture by Gustav Brehmer of Markneukirchen, measuring 36.2 mm (l) x 44.5 mm (l), with the majority of its finish lost through age and wear, in overall near very fine condition.
An award document for an Eastern Front Medal (Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/1942 - “Ostmedaille”) to Obergefreiten Walter Weisener, awarded on August 16th, 1942 and signed in pencil, measuring 140 mm (w) x 201 mm (l), the document has been previously folded in half with creasing along the edges of the page, in overall very fine condition.
3. A Black Grade Wound Badge. (Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz) Instituted on March 3rd 1918. Constructed of blackened bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, with a central raised Stahlhelm overlaid by a mobile swastika, on top of crossed swords on a pebbled field, the reverse with a sheet metal hinge, round wire catch, and vertical pinback, unmarked, measuring 37.0 mm (w) x 44.5 mm (l), weighing 10.38 grams, with the majority of its black finish intact but revealing some of the bronze underneath, in near very fine condition.
An award document for a Black Grade Wound Badge (Verwundetenabzeichen in Schwarz) to Unteroffizier Walter Weisener of the 7. Grenadier Regiment 76, awarded on November 14th 1944 for the injury sustained on October 16th, 1944. It is signed by the Oberstabsarzt/Chefarzt in fountain pen, bearing an official Wehrmacht seal, measuring 140 mm (w) x 200 mm (l), the document has been previously folded in half with creasing along the edges of the page, in overall very fine condition.
