Germany, Third Reich. A 1942 Zurich Italo-German Youth Sports Festival Merit Medal, with Case

(Sportfest der Reichsdeutschen und Italienischen Jugend Erinnerungsmedaille mit Etui). Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse bearing a raised fasces and German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “SPORTFEST DER REICHSDEUTSCHEN UND ITALIENISCHEN JUGEND IN DER SCHWEIZ, ZÜRICH 1942, FÜR BESONDERE LEISTUNG” (“SPORTS FESTIVAL OF GERMAN AND ITALIAN YOUTH IN SWITZERLAND, ZURICH 1942, FOR EXCEPTIONAL MERIT”), unmarked, measuring 40 mm in diameter, accompanied by its original case, constructed of a card stock frame with a faux purple leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and fitted red velvet medal bed, unmarked, measuring 6 cm (w) x 6 cm (l) x 1 cm (h), demonstrating material fatigue to the case which includes detachment of the lid, in overall near extremely fine condition.
