Germany, SA. A 1937 SA-Gruppe Hochland/NSDAP Sports Competition Victor’s Plaque, with Case, by Carl Poellath

(Wintersportkämpfe Plakette mit Etui). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse bearing a raised German national eagle perched on top of an edelweiss, in turn defaced by a Sturmabteilung (SA) insignia, flanked by an inscription of “DER FÜHRER DER S.A. GRUPPE HOCHLAND” (“THE LEADER OF SA GROUP HOCHLAND”), circumscribed by an inscription of “WINTERSPORTKÄMPFE DER GLIEDERUNGEN DER N.S.D.A.P. ROTTACH-EGERN” (“WINTER SPORTS GAMES OF THE NSDAP UNITS IN ROTTACH-EGERN”), overlaying a pair of skis, the reverse bearing an engraved dedication to a first place team in an 18 kilometer group run, maker marked “CARL POELLATH, SCHROBENHAUSEN”, measuring 75 mm (w) x 80 mm (h), accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a fitted dark blue velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 105 mm (w) x 115 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), demonstrating minor loss of finish to the plaque, in overall near extremely fine condition.
