(NSDAP offizielles Teilnehmerabzeichen der NSDAP AO Landesgruppe Italien zum Staatsbesuch AH in Italien 1938, mit Etui). Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a central raised NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by a pair of fasces, circumscribed by an inscriptions of “STAATSBESUCH AH IN ITALIEN 1938” (“STATE VISIT OF AH TO ITALY 1938”), the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR TREUE MITARBEIT IN DER LANDESGRUPPE ITALIEN DER A O DER NSDAP” (“FOR FAITHFUL ASSISTANCE IN THE LANDESGRUPPE/COUNTY GROUP ITALY OF THE AUSLANDSORGANISATION/FOREIGN ORGANIZATION OF THE NSDAP”), unmarked, measuring 46 mm in diameter, accompanied by its period original presentation case, constructed of a heavy card stock frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded white satin lid liner and intact hinge cover, the former bearing a maker’s mark of “JULIUS NOTTBROCK, GIOIELLIERE, VIA FRATTINA 147, ROMA”, with a depressed off-white velvet medal bed, measuring 70 mm (w) x 70 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), demonstrating minor material fatigue to the case, a rare commemorative medal to a participant in a key state visit ultimately leading to the Italo-German alliance in extremely fine condition.
