Germany, Luftwaffe. An EM/NCO’s Summer Cap Cover, by August Schellenberg

(Luftwaffe weiße Mützendeckel für Mannschaften). Constructed of white cotton twill, the peak pinned with an aluminum insignia in the form of a Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 60 mm (w) x 42 mm (h) and retaining both attachment prongs, with a metal snap button situated directly below the eagle to lock onto an accompanying cap, the rim reinforced with a layer of white rayon, the interior encompassed by a white rayon liner and retaining a magnetic metal ring to maintain structural integrity, the crown retaining a transparent plastic moisture guard bearing the “SONDERKLASSE” maker’s mark of August Schellenberg, Berlin, with a paper label featuring a size mark of “56”, measuring 26 cm in diameter when folded on a flat surface, demonstrating minor soiling and some oxidation to the snap button, in near extremely fine condition.
