Germany, Luftwaffe. A Rare Civil Radio Operator Badge, by C.E. Juncker

(Zivile Bordfunkerabzeichen). Instituted 1 April 1936. (1936-1945 issue). Constructed of silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of a mobile swastika flanked by a pair of wings with feathering executed in exceptional detail, the reverse with a barrel hinge and tapering horizontal pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “C.E. JUNCKER, BERLIN”, measuring 62.61 mm (w) x 18.08 mm (h), weighing 11.1 grams, demonstrating minor loss of finish to the base metal, a rare example issued to civil radio operators and flight engineers who attained a certificate for a minimum of one year of service with the Luftwaffe, a rare and striking example in extremely fine condition.
