(Luftwaffe Ritterkreuzträger Fotos mit Unterschrift). A lot of private wartime photos of Luftwaffe bomber ace Hauptmann Kurt Heintz, featuring a small portrait depicting Heintz wearing a tropical tunic with an Officer’s upgraded overseas cap, with the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross clearly visible, pasted to a paper back and situated above Heintz’s handwritten signature, measuring 8.5 cm (w) x 11.5 cm (h), a scarce example in extremely fine condition; accompanied by two candid photos showing Heintz in a conference with Luftwaffe Officers both unmarked and measuring 10 cm (w) x 7 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Kurt Heintz was born on 25 June 1912 in Neuenkirchen, Germany. In a distinguished career as a bomber pilot with Kampfgeschwader 2 and Lehrgeschwader 1, he flew over 300 bomber missions and 300 sorties and received the 1939 Iron Crosses in both II and I Classes, the Luftwaffe Honour Goblet (8 December 1941), German Cross in Gold (10 July 1942), and the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross (17 October 1942). He was killed in action during a mission on 22 January 1944 over Lydd, England.
