Constructed of gilded and silvered tombak, the obverse consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, overlaid by a diving Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, the reverse with two visible rivets securing the eagle in position, with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “IMME & SOHN, BERLIN”, measuring 42.40 mm (w) x 53.74 mm (h), weighing 35.2 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux dark blue leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt inscription of “FALLSCHIRMSCHUTZEN-ABZEICHEN”, the interior with a dark blue rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, demonstrating minor material fatigue to the case, a striking example of a fletchless wing variant showcasing Imme & Sohn’s noted quality, in extremely fine condition.
