Germany, HJ. A Golden HJ Leader’s Sports Proficiency Badge, Numbered Example, by Gustav Brehmer

(Führer-Sportabzeichen). Instituted May 6th, 1934 by Baldur von Schirach. (1938-1944 issue). Constructed of gilded bronze with black enamels, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel wreath surrounding a black enameled disc, overlaid by a Tyr rune bearing a central mobile swastika, within a circular ring bearing a raised inscription of “Für Leistungen in der HJ” (For Merit in the HJ), the reverse with a raised barrel hinge, vertical pinback, and rightward-opening flat wire catch, numbered “11092” and maker marked “RZM M1/101” for manufacture by “Gustav Brehmer” in Markneukirchen, measuring 39.8 mm (w) x 50.7 mm (l), weighing 37.35 grams, with approximately half of its original gilt finish remaining in better than very fine condition.
