(Heer Verleihungsurkunden). A lot of award documents named to eventual Unteroffizier Josef Backhausen, a decorated Eastern Front combatant, including:
1. One for a Black Grade Wound Badge, named to Backhausen as a Schütze of 6. Kompanie, Infanterie-Regiment 473, awarded on 14 August 1941 for a single wound suffered on 27 July, certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Oberstabsarzt, measuring 21 cm (w) x 15 cm (h), demonstrating folding lines and tearing throughout the creases, in fair condition.
2. One for a 1939 Iron Cross II Class, named to Backhausen as a Gefreiter of 6. Kompanie, Infanterie-Regiment 473, issued at headquarters on 1 May 1942, certified by the handwritten signature of Generalleutnant Otto Schellert (German Cross in Gold, 26 December 1941), measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), demonstrating folding lines, in better than very fine condition.
3. One for a Silver Grade Wound Badge, named to Backhausen as a Gefreiter of 6. Kompanie, Infanterie-Regiment 473, awarded in the field on 6 September 1942 for three wounds suffered on 28 July 1841 (one day discrepancy from the Black Grade document) 1941, 11 March 1942, and 17 August 1942, certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Hauptmann, measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), demonstrating folding lines, in better than very fine condition.
4. One for a 1939 Iron Cross II Class, named to Backhausen as a Gefreiter of 6. Kompanie, Infanterie-Regiment 473, issued in the field on 25 October 1942, certified by the handwritten signature of Generalmajor Horst Großmann (Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, 19 July 1940; with Oak Leaves, 4 September 1943), measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), demonstrating folding lines, in better than very fine condition.
5. One for an Infantry Assault Badge, Silver Grade, named to Backhausen as an Unteroffizier of 6. Kompanie, Grenadier-Regiment 473, issued at headquarters on 4 February 1943, certified by the handwritten signature of Oberst Richard Schmidt (Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, 6 November 1942), measuring 15 cm (w) x 21 cm (h), demonstrating folding lines and minor material fatigue, in very fine condition.
6. One for a Gold Grade Wound Badge, named to Backhausen as an Unteroffizier of Heeresunteroffizierschule Düren (Army NCO School Düren), awarded on 18 August 1944 for five wounds suffered on 27 July 1941, 11 March 1942, 17 August 1942, and 17 December 1943, certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Hauptmann, measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), demonstrating a folding line and minor soiling, in better than very fine condition.
7. A pair of prisoner of war (P.O.W.) date and release forms, indicating that Bruckhausen survived the war and was briefly held in US captivity before being discharged on 4 June 1945, in overall near extremely fine condition.
8. A pair of period photographs, one depicting a burning village on the Eastern Front and one depicting an assembly of Heer soldiers, in near extremely fine condition.
