Bavaria, Kingdom. A Military Medical Order, with Case, c. 1930

(Silbernes Militär-Sanitätsehrenzeichen). Instituted 8 November 1812 by King Maximilian I Joseph. (1871-1918 issue). Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension, the obverse bearing a raised and leftward-facing profile of King Maximilian I Joseph, circumscribed by name and title in Latin, the reverse bearing a wreathed inscription of “OB MILITES INTER PROELIA ET ARTE ET VIRTUTE SERVATOS” (“FOR RESCUE CARRIED OUT WITH SKILL AND COURAGE IN WAR”), the obverse engraver marked “LOSCH”, measuring 40.72 mm in diameter, weighing 28.8 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and a dark blue felt medal bed, closing with a functional metal snap button, unmarked, measuring 60 mm (w) x 75 mm (l) x 20 mm (h), a high-quality recipient’s replacement piece or exhibition example produced c. 1930, in near extremely fine condition.
