Description
A badge, gilded bronze, enameled, measuring 20x26mm, near mint condition with fresh colours. A wartime photo, measuring 103x71mm, near mint condition. Four copies of letters, measuring 209x297mm, mint condition.
The letters have been sent between the Luftnachrichten-Kompanie (Aerial Signals Company) of Airport Jever in Wittmund (East Frisia) and the flag and insignia company M. Fleck & Son in Hamburg. The photo shows soldiers from said unit, and the badge is the reason for the exchange of letters. It was commissioned by the unit and designed by M. Fleck & Son. The letters deal with the specifications (the bird, a “Kiebitz”, Engl. lapwing, is specified to have three legs) and payment details. Eventually an order of 200 badges is agreed upon. All letters are dated to July or August of 1940.
