Description
(Feuerwehr-Verdienstkreuz des Württembergischen Landesfeuerwehrverbandes mit Etui). Instituted 14 May 1924 by the Württemberg State Fire Service Association. (1924-1934 issue). Constructed of silver with gilt, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon affixed to a parade mount with horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Pattée with its arms joined through the quadrants by a circular laurel leaf wreath, the obverse arms bearing a raised inscription of “WÜRT. LENSDES-FEUERW. VERBAND” (“WÜRTTEMBERG STATE FIRE SERVICE ASSOCIATION”, the reverse three, nine, and twelve o’clock arms bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), the six o’clock arm bearing a cluster of oak leaves, the six o’clock arm stamped with a silver content number of “800”, measuring 44.59 mm (w) x 49.60 mm (h), accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a white rayon lid liner and intact hinge cover, with a fitted dark blue velvet medal bed, closing with a functional snap button, unmarked, measuring 65 mm (w) x 75 mm (l) x 20 cm (h), the award has been attached to the mount backwards and no longer fits within the case owing to the size of the former, a scarce award in near extremely fine condition.
