Germany, Der Stahlhelm. A 1920 Commemorative Service Badge, by Der Stahlhof

(Der Stahlhelm Diensteintrittsabzeichen 1920). Instituted 13 November 1933 by Franz Seldte. (1933-1939 issue). Constructed of silvered tombak with enamels, the obverse consisting of a black enameled medallion, overlaid by a raised Stahlhelm insignia, situated above a silvered date of “1920” topped by oak leaves, the reverse with a crimped hinge and tapering vertical pinback meeting a flattened catch, maker marked with the logo of Der Stahlhof, Magdeburg, measuring 30.21 mm in diameter, weighing 10.9 grams, surface chipping is visible to the enamels and both the hinge and catch demonstrate evidence of period repair, in very fine condition.
