Description
Description
(Generalmajor Wehrmacht Waffenrock). A well-preserved Wehrmacht Generalmajor Waffenrock, constructed of fine quality field-grey whipcord wool. It features a turned-down collar constructed of dark green wool. The collar is decorated on each side with an elongated Generalmajor’s collar tab, measuring 95 mm (w) x 44 mm (l), constructed of a buckram core, with a bright red wool topper, along with double arabesques hand embroidered onto the exterior of the tab, constructed of gilded bullion wire. The collar is flanked on either side by a slip-on style shoulder board, fastened to the uniform via a loop at the shoulder and a single gilded pebbled button. The shoulder boards are constructed with a cardstock core, featuring a red wool exterior, topped by two bands of interwoven golden bullion wire piping surrounding a central band, constructed of silver-tone wire piping, and measuring 42 mm (w) x 110 mm (l). This tunic features dual pockets at breast height as well as at waist height, all are secured shut via a scalloped flap and a single gilded pebbled nonmagnetic button. Sewn to the tunic above the right breast pocket is a breast eagle, with a dark green wool backer, constructed of twisted and rolled gilded bullion wire in the shape of a national eagle with open wings clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, measuring 105 mm (w) x 43 mm (l). Above and on the left breast pocket are a series of loops, mounted both horizontally as well as vertically to allow for the attachment of awards. The front of the tunic is split into two sides, and can be secured shut using a series of six vertically mounted gilded pebbled buttons that meet an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the opposing side. The slit is decorated with bright red piping that reaches into the interior of the tunic. The sleeves are undecorated, but feature a folded cuff that is sewn into place to keep it from unraveling during wear. The interior is lined with grey rayon-blended material on the body of the tunic, with both sleeves lined using off-white coloured rayon-blended fabric with a black linear pattern. On the interior on the left flap at breast height is a lined horizontal-slit pocket, with an additional reinforced horizontal cutout for the threading-through of a dagger hanger. It features a label on the interior of the tunic directly underneath the collar with a patch reading “Maßarbeit aus Hervorragende Qualität Adler-Ring-Tuch” on a machine embroidered patch. It measures 42 cm across the shoulders, with a sleeve length of 64 cm, and an overall length of 74 cm. It is overall very well preserved, with light to moderate mothing from storage, but free from rips, tears, or extensive signs of wear, in overall better than very fine condition.
