Germany, Luftwaffe. A Pair of Tropical Trousers

(Luftwaffe Tropen Hose für Mannschaften). An exceptionally well-preserved pair of Luftwaffe tropical trousers, constructed of a heavy cotton-blended khaki-tan cloth with a pronounced herringbone twill (HBT) weave. The waistband features an integral belt which fastens closed with a functional aluminum buckle emanating from the left side. A French fly closes with Two front size pockets open with diagonal slashes, while two back pockets open with scalloped flaps and feature bakelite buttons. The upper left leg features an additional large pocket similarly opening with a scalloped flap in classic Luftwaffe fashion. Each ankle has an integral belt which closes with a functional aluminum buckle for flush closure to mitigate the accumulation of sand and debris in accompanying footwear. The interior of the waistband features multiple buttons and straps, some accommodating suspenders. The right side of the waistband bears the illegible outlines of a Reichsbetriebsummer (RBNr.) and size marks. The trousers measure approximately 42 cm across the waistband, with an inseam of 32 cm, and an overall length of 98 cm when folded on a flat surface. Demonstrating no notable damage or wear, these trousers, commonly worn by Luftwaffe personnel attached to the Afrikakorps, remain in an extremely fine condition.
