Description
(Eine privat angefertigte Wehrmacht Stiefelhose). A fine quality private purchase pair of Wehrmacht breeches belonging to Lt. Niessl of the 11. Festungs-Nachrichtenzug, according to the Feldpost number marked on the breeches. The pair is constructed of field-grey whipcord fabric, the front with one diagonal-slit pocket at waist height per side, secured shut via a single brown bakelite button per side. There is a diagonal-slit fob pocket to the left of the right-side pocket, with an additional horizontal-slit pocket on the right side of the reverse, that is secured shut with a scalloped flap and a single brown bakelite button, marked “Der Reithosenschneider” (The Tailor of Breeches). The front flaps are secured shut with four matching brown bakelite buttons that are met by reinforced button-holes on the opposing side, with an additional magnetic metal hook and loop assembly at the very top for secure closing of these breeches. Along both sides, mounted at the hip, is an integrated belt with a magnetic metal friction clasp for adjustment. The inside is unlined, with the exception of the beltline, which is lined with grey rayon, and the insides of the pockets, which are lined with off-white rayon and cotton fabric. The inside seam has a taylor’s label attached, reading “N Heidenreich & Söhne, Der Reithosenschneider, München, Karlsplatz 8” and then stamped “Lt. Niessl, 46193” and dated “8.6.42” all in black ink. The exterior of these breeches are lined in the rear along the seat with soft and supple olive-brown coloured leather, covering the buttocks and reaching down to the cuffs. Attached to the inside seam, towards the sides, are a series of four brown bakelite buttons along with a pair of straps at the rear with bakelite buttons on the ends, all for the attachment of suspenders. Each pant leg has a 27 cm long vertical slit, ordained with eight pairs of eyelets with a drawstring and a series of three vertically mounted brown bakelite buttons at the cuff. This pair of rider’s breeches measures 43 cm across the waist (seam to seam), with an inseam of 67 cm, and an overall length of 93 cm. This is a fine quality named pair of Wehrmacht breeches, with light material fatigue in the fabric from wear, along with mothing in the front along the crotch and the rear along the beltline, and missing one brown bakelite button per side, in overall near very fine condition.
