Description
(Eine Feuerschutzpolizei Feuerwehrmann Dienstuniform). This is a well preserved service tunic belonging to a Feuerschutzpolizei Feuerwehrmann of Ober-Wöllstadt. It is constructed of thick, fine quality dark blue wool, with a standard down-turned collar that is flanked by collar tabs on both sides. The collar is lined on the outside edges with pink piping, while the tabs are constructed of a buckram core, with a bright cotton-rayon blend material and two strips of silver aluminum bullion tresse on the obverse, measuring 30 mm (w) x 65 mm (l). The shoulders are ordained with sew-on shoulder boards, constructed of a cardstock core, with a bright pink wool upper, decorated with two rows of silver aluminum bullion piping interspersed with black threading, with an additional two rows of black piping, all held in place via a single pebbled button. The tunic features a total of four pockets, two at breast height and two at waist height, all secured shut via a single polished magnetic metal button each. The left sleeve is ordained near the shoulders with a patch of the Feuerschutzpolizei of Ober-Wöllstadt, constructed of dark blue wool with bright pink machine embroidery reading “Ober-Wöllstadt” with a wreathed national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, all backed by a larger, diagonal, oak wreath, measuring 80 mm (w) x 105 mm (l). The tunic is secured shut in the front via eight vertically mounted matching polished magnetic buttons that are met by a matching number of reinforced buttonholes on the opposing side. Suspended from the second loophole of the tunic, is a ribbon for a War Merit Cross 1939 Second Class. Similarly to the collar, both sides of the frontal flap are lined with matching bright pink piping. The tunic is entirely lined with a grey coloured multi-piece cotton, except for the sleeves, which are lined with a blue lined cotton-rayon blend fabric. The tunic measures approximately 39 cm across the shoulders (seam to seam), with a sleeve length of 63 cm, and an overall body length of 81 cm. This is a well preserved example of a Feuerschutzpolizei tunic, depicting light to moderate signs of wear with material fatigue in the fabric, in overall near extremely fine condition.
