Germany, Third Reich. An Order of the German Eagle, Merit Medal in Bronze to Spanish Recipient

(Deutsche Verdienstmedaille in Bronze). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1937-1945 issue). Constructed of bronzed zink, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon affixed to a classic Spanish-style bronze buckle indicating issue to a foreign recipient, the obverse bearing a raised Maltese Cross with pebbled arms joined through the quadrants by NSDAP-style German national eagles clutching wreathed mobile swastikas, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “DEUTSCHE VERDIENST MEDAILLE” (“GERMAN MERIT MEDAL”), unmarked, measuring 38.62 mm in diameter, weighing 23.0 grams (inclusive of ribbon), demonstrating near-total loss of bronze finish, in very fine condition.
