(Deutscher Adlerorden Kreuz III. Klasse mit Etui). Instituted 1 May 1937. (1939-1943 issue). Constructed of gilded silver with enamels, consisting of a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, with each arm joined through the quadrants by an NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika on a white enameled disc, the twelve o’clock arm topped by a fan and integral loop connecting to a ribbed suspension ring retaining a period original full length neck ribbon, the integral loop stamped with a silver content number of “900”, otherwise unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by Gebrüder Godet, Berlin, measuring 49.33 mm (w) x 57.73 mm (h), weighing 27.1 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a wooden frame with a faux red leather exterior liner, the lid bearing a gilt NSDAP-style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the edges trimmed with a gilt border, the interior with a padded white satin lid liner bearing a gilt inscription of “ORDEN VOM DEUTSCHEN ADLER VERDIENSTKREZU 1. STUFE”, with a depressed black velvet medal bed, closing with a functional brass snap button, unmarked, measuring 14 cm (w) x 18 cm (l) x 3.5 m (h), demonstrating minor flecking and moderate material fatigue to the enamels of the decoration and exterior of the case, respectively, a cased set demonstrating Godet’s noted quality in overall extremely fine condition.
