(Auszeichnungen und Insignien). A mixed lot of decorations and insignia, including:
1. A War Merit Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR KRIEGSVERDIENST 1939” (“FOR WAR MERIT 1939”), unmarked, measuring 32.26 mm in diameter, weighing 12.8 grams, in near mint condition.
2. A War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and with crossed swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, unmarked, measuring 48.58 mm (w) x 48.93 mm (h), weighing 27.0 grams, in extremely fine condition.
3. An Eastern Front Medal, constructed of silvered and patinated zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “WINTERSCHLACHT IM OSTEN 1941/42” (“WINTER BATTLE IN THE EAST 1941/42”), above a crossed sword and laurel branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and stick grenade, unmarked, measuring 36.13 mm (w) x 44.10 mm (h), weighing 19.8 grams, demonstrating moderate loss of finish throughout, in very fine condition.
4. A DRL Sports Badge, Bronze Grade, constructed of bronze, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, in turn overlaid by a mobile swastika, around central stylized initials “DRL”, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a round wire catch, maker marked “WERNSTEIN, JENA”, measuring 38.70 mm (w) x 47.89 mm (h), weighing 17.1 grams, in extremely fine condition.
5. A Heer NCO’s breast eagle, constructed of field-grey rayon, the obverse bearing a machine-embroidered silver aluminum wire Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, unmarked, measuring 100 mm (w) x 40 mm (h), demonstrating minor soiling, in uniform-removed and near extremely fine condition.
