Germany, Third Reich. A Lot of Four Medals, Awards, and Decorations

A grouping of four Third Reich German medals, awards, and decorations, consisting of: 

1. A West Wall Medal (Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen). Instituted August 2nd, 1939. Constructed of bronzed feinzink, on a fixed loop and ring for suspension, the obverse with a crossed shovel and sword in the centre, and a concrete pillbox/bunker directly below, as well as with the German national eagle above, all within an oak leaf wreath, the reverse inscribed “Für Arbeit zum schutze Deutschlands” (For labour for the protection of Germany) within an oak wreath, the ring marked “4” for manufacture by Steinhauer & Lück of Lüdenscheid, accompanied by a modern replacement ribbon, measuring 32.9 mm (w) x 45.6 mm (l), weighing 20.97 grams, accompanied by a mismatched paper packet of issue, with “Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen” printed in black lettering on the obverse, the reverse maker marked “Karl Poellath, Schrobenhausen”, measuring 60 mm (w) x 105 mm (l), in overall near extremely fine condition.

2. An Austria Anschluss Medal. (Anschluss Medaille). Instituted March 13th, 1938 (1938-1940 issue). A round silvered bronze medal, on a fixed loop and ring for suspension, the obverse bearing two raised figures, one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, above a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised date of “13. März 1938”,  circumscribed by an inscription of “Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer” (“One People, One Nation, One Leader”), unmarked, accompanied by a period original ribbon, measuring 32.3 mm in diameter, weighing 13.75 grams, in very fine condition. 

3. An Eastern Front Medal by Katz & Deyhle. (Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/1942 - “Ostmedaille”). Instituted May 26th 1942. (1942-1944 Issue). Constructed of silvered and patinated zinc, on a fixed loop and ring for suspension, the obverse bearing a raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a swastika, the reverse bearing an inscription of “Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42” (Winter Battle in the East 1941/42) above a crossed sword and lauren branch, topped by a Stahlhelm and a stick grenade, marked “60” on the ring for manufacture by Katz & Deyhle of Pforzheim, accompanied by its mint and unissued period original full length ribbon, boutonniere, and a paper packet of issue, the obverse with “Medaille Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/1942 - (Ostmedaille)” in black ink, the reverse maker marked “Karl Poellath, Schrobenhausen”, measuring 59 mm (w) x 106 mm (l), in overall extremely fine condition.

4. An Iron Cross 1939 Second Class. (Eisernes Kreuz 1939 II. Klasse) Reinstituted September 1st, 1939. (1939-1945 issue). Constructed of iron and silver on a fixed loop and ring for suspension, consisting of a Cross Pattée with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver frame, the obverse with a central mobile swastika, the six o’clock arm with a reinstitution date of “1939”, the reverse six o’clock arm with an initial institution date of “1813”, the ring marked but illegible, supplied by a used, slightly soiled, period original ribbon, measuring 44.3 mm (w) x 44.3 mm (l), weighing 20.19 grams, accompanied by a paper packet of issue, the obverse with “Eisernes Kreuz 1939 2. Klasse” in black ink, measuring 102 mm (w) x 131 mm (l), in overall extremely fine condition.
