(Deutsche Medaillen). A grouping of six third reich German medals and awards, consisting of 1) A 40-Year Faithful Service Cross, 2) A War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords, 3) An Eastern Campaign Medal, 4) An Anschluss Commemorative Medal, 5) A War Merit Medal, and 6) An Eastern People’s Medal in Silver.
1) (40-Jahre Treudienst Ehrenzeichen). A 40 Year Faithful Service Cross, constructed of gilded bronze with black enamels, and a dual loop suspension from its period original ribbon with horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms joined through the quadrants by a circular oak leaf wreath, the obverse bearing a central black enameled swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of “FÜR TREUE DIENSTE” (“FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE”), unmarked, measuring 40.7 mm (w) x 41.0 mm (l), weighing 21.65 grams (inclusive of its ribbon and horizontal pinback assembly), the gilt very nicely preserved but the enamels on the swastika damaged.
2) (Kriegsverdienstkreuz II. Klasse mit Schwertern). Constructed of bronze, and on a dual loop suspension from its period original replacement ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, the obverse with a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse with a central wreathed date of “1939”, unmarked, measuring 47.5 mm (w) x 47.2 grams, weighing 23.13 grams.
3) (Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42 Medaille). Constructed of silvered and patinated zink, the obverse with a large national eagle on the obverse clutching a swastika (“Hakenkreuz”) and a leftward facing Stahlhelm on the top with horizontally oriented stick grenade, the reverse “Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42” (Winter Battle in the East 1941/42) in all capital letters with a crossed sword and laurel wreath on the bottom, on a loop for suspension from its period original replacement ribbon, measuring 35.7 mm, weighing 17.65 grams, with the silvering and patination well preserved.
4) (Sudetenland Medaille). Constructed of bronze, on a dual loop for suspension from its period original replacement ribbon, the obverse bearing two raised figures, , one of which is clutching a flag and the other a length of broken chain, above a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central raised date of “1. Oktober 1938”, circumscribed by an inscription of “Ein Volk, Ein Reich, Ein Führer” (“One People, One Nation, One Leader”), unmarked, measuring 32.1 mm in diameter, weighing 13.39 mm grams.
5) (Kriegsverdienstmedaille). Constructed of bronze, on a dual loop for suspension from its period original replacement ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse of each bearing a raised inscription of “Für Kriegsverdienst 1939” (For War Merit 1939), unmarked, measuring 32.2 mm in diameter, weighing 12.65 grams.
6) (Ostvolk Medaille in Silber) Constructed of silvered zink in the shape of an eight-pointed radiant star, on a dual loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse with a central raised rosette within a circular laurel wreath, the reverse plain, unmarked, measuring 39.5 mm (w) x 45.9 mm (l), weighing 15.97 grams (including its ribbon).
A fine grouping of third reich awards, ranging from civil to military decorations, all in worn condition in overall better than very fine condition.
