Description

(Luftwaffe Narvikschild). Instituted August 19th 1940. (1941-1943 issue). Constructed of silvered coupal, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised propeller, anchor, and edelweiss, representing the Luftwaffe, Kriegmarine, and Gebirgsjäger (Heer) respectively, topped by an inscription of “NARVIK” and a German national eagle perched on top of a wreathed swastika, affixed with all four reverse attachment prongs to a magnetic metal backplate with a mouse-grey wool liner (indicating Luftwaffe issue), measuring 57 mm (w) x 103 mm (l), demonstrating some loss of finish on the shield exposing the coupal metal underneath, in near extremely fine condition.
