Constructed of silver plated non-magnetic metal, the obverse bearing a central sword defaced by a crossed sword and mallet (symbolizing Ruhr industry) and an NSFK insignia, surrounding by searchlight beams illuminating an aircraft, and situated above an engraved dedication of “GAUFLUGTAG RUHR-NIEDERRHEIN / ZUR ERINNERUNG AN DIE TEILNEHME AM 18. SEPTEMBER 1938” (“RUHR-LOWER RHINE GAU FLIGHT DAY / IN MEMORY OF THE PARTICIPANTS OF 18 SEPTEMBER 1938”), unmarked, measuring 70 mm (w) x 110 mm (h), accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a pressed card stock frame with a faux black leather exterior liner, the interior with a padded white rayon lid liner, bearing a gilt inscription of “NATIONALSOZIALISTISCHES FLIEGERKORPS GRUPPE 12 (NIEDERRHEIN) STANDARTE 67”, with a fitted dark blue velvet medal bed, closing with a functional metal spring catch with exterior stud release, unmarked, measuring 95 mm (w) x 135 mm (l) x 22 mm (h), demonstrating minor material fatigue to the case, in overall extremely fine condition, and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity issued by Helmut Weitze on 10 September 2013 when last offered to the collector market..
